When you are looking into going on a weekend away with a young family, it can be difficult to find a balance that will suit everyone and locations that offer the convenience of home and the luxury of a holiday getaway.

Kelly’s Resort Hotel & Spa strives to create a unique holiday experience, something I have not seen in other Irish resorts.

Located on the sandy Rosslare strand, with an oasis of exotic palm trees, it is easy to see why Kelly’s has become one of Wexford’s Top holiday destinations and why families return every year. The famous family-run business prides itself on its attention to detail and world-class customer service.

As we were traveling with a baby, we decided to stay in one of the family rooms, located on the first floor.

The rooms are bright and spacious and have a connecting bedroom with a cot if required.

Our room, was right next door to the baby preparation room, which had a fully functional kitchen, sterilizers, microwave, baby food, and nappy bin facilities. There is a Centra a few minutes up the road also if you need to stock up on essentials for your baby.

Kelly’s offer full board and half board packages for families which cover all your meals and snacks throughout your stay.

If you are looking to keep the children busy during the day, The Starfish Club is opened daily from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm for kids aged four years old and under. Children are welcome to play in the club under the supervision of an adult.

However, if you would like to take a break, the staff would be delighted to supervise children for a small fee. Please contact Kelly directly for further information.

The pirate Club begins every morning at 9.30 am in the kid’s tv room and finishes every evening at 9 pm. There are lots of fun activities planned each day no matter what the weather is like, including splash time, crazy golf and face painting, and disco. There is also a complimentary childminding service provided for parents from 7 pm to 9 pm so parents can dine in peace.

Kelly’s Food and Drink

Kelly’s has a fine selection of restaurants to choose from, the award-winning Beaches restaurant is the main restaurant, Executive Chef, Eugene Callaghan ensures menus are changed daily for residents who may be visiting for longer periods. The room is decorated with a “sense of traditional opulence” and features some of Kelly’s family’s famous art collections.

Adult Entertainment

There is a wide range of activities for adults to take part in during the day including, sports and golf.

There is also a hair salon and Sea Spa on-site for guests. While we were visiting in November, Frank Clarke, from Simply Painting was on-site and provided guests with Art classes daily.

Nightly entertainment with a resident band is on in the Ivy room every night after dinner.

Kelly’s is a perfect place for relaxing and unwinding, I recommend visiting the Aqua Club. The Swimming pool has a panoramic view of the stunning Rosslare seascape.

The sandy beach of Rosslare strand is right on Kelly’s doorstep and it’s a great way to spend the morning after breakfast. Overall I would recommend Kelly’s Resort for young families looking to experience a Mediterranean resort holiday with the comfort of only a couple of hours’ drive from home.
